Warkworth Tumbled Solid Oak Herringbone: Where It Works Best
Warkworth Tumbled is a prime grade solid oak herringbone floor, unfinished and tumbled. Prime grade oak is selected for a clean, consistent look, with only small, occasional knots and minimal colour variation. It suits contemporary and minimalist interiors where you want the herringbone pattern itself to take centre stage.
The finish
Each block has been tumbled to soften the edges and corners, giving the floor an aged, reclaimed character from day one. It is supplied unfinished, so once laid it can be sanded lightly and finished on site in the oil, hardwax oil or lacquer of your choice.
Block size and construction
At 70 x 280mm, these blocks are a classic parquet size. They give a well-proportioned herringbone that sits naturally in almost any room, from living rooms and dining rooms to bedrooms and hallways.
Each block is solid oak all the way through, 22mm thick. Because there is so much usable timber, a solid floor can be sanded and refinished many times over its life, making it a long-term investment that can be refreshed for decades.
Fitting your herringbone floor
Herringbone is laid with separate left and right blocks to create the zigzag pattern, and is normally fixed to a flat, dry, prepared subfloor. For the best result we recommend an experienced floor fitter. Not sure whether herringbone is right for your room? Caring for Warkworth Tumbled
Care depends on the finish you choose once it is laid. Regular sweeping or vacuuming and an occasional damp mop with a suitable wood floor cleaner will keep it looking its best. Our team can advise on the right products for your chosen finish.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I see a sample first?
Yes. We always recommend seeing the floor in your own light before ordering. You can order a flooring sample of Warkworth Tumbled online, or contact us for advice.
How much flooring should I order?
Measure the area in square metres and allow extra for cutting. Herringbone usually needs a larger allowance than a straight-laid floor (often around 10 to 15%), because of the angled cuts at the edges. Our team can help you work out the right quantity.
Can Warkworth Tumbled be used with underfloor heating?
Suitability for underfloor heating depends on the system and how the floor is installed. Get in touch and we will confirm the right approach for Warkworth Tumbled in your home.
